Cold Air Intake | |

Shortly after completing the TWM install with the modified air box I
started working on the cold air intake. I made the cold air box
out of high temperature fiberglass plate that I cut to size and glued
together with epoxy. The cold air box mounts to the battery tray
and connects to the air plenum via a short length of flexible hose.
The top of the cold air box is held in place with quarter-turn
fasteners. All the materials for the cold air box were purchased
from McMaster-Carr. The air tubing is that cheap plastic stuff
they sell in any auto parts store.
The air box fits tightly enough to the front bulkhead that at highway speeds I can actually get a pressure increase of a few percent over ambient. At any speed over about 30MPH the intake air temp is always very close to ambient, even on a hot summer day. |
