Knock Sensor | ||

This is a project I will be starting in the next couple months. I
plan on adding a knock sensor to my 2.2L bottom end that I'm currently
working on. The sensor will use a circuit that automatically
adjusts its sensitivity based on engine RPM. I want to run a 10:1
CR on my 2.2L engine so a knock sensor while not required, will be a
good safety precaution.
I have two possible locations identified for the sensor placement. One is the rear-most alternator bracket mounting bolt. I could replace this bolt with a stud like on this Mini Cooper install: The other possible location is where a coolant fitting was threaded into the block above the starter. This location is further removed from the valve train but I need to figure out how to ensure there is no coolant leak. |
