The paint work was completed in January of 2004. The owner of the
shop I used for the paint work allowed me to begin the assembly process
in his shop. My 1.5 car garage is not heated. Notice the
view outside from my garage in a few of these pictures. By the time the car left the paint shop, I had the glass in, all lights installed, and the doors assembled. All plastic and rubber parts on the exterior were purchased new from BMW for this project. The only exterior pieces that are original to the car are:
For the interior, I was able to purchase new OEM molded German loop carpet. This carpet was made for the later model E21 (post 1979). The carpet around the seat rails needed to be cut to fit the early E21. I had redone the seats a year prior to the restoration with new horse hair pads and vinyl covers.
