The paint work is about the only part of the car's restoration that I
did not do myself. I had a local restoration shop that specializes
in vintage VWs do the paint work for me. They chemically stripped
the outside of the car as well as the engine compartment. There
was no need to take the undercarriage, interior, or trunk down to bare
metal as there was no rust and the paint was still solid. After stripping the car, an epoxy based sealer was sprayed and then high-build primer which was sanded down. The color is the original BMW color Topasbraun Metallic (BMW color code #13). PPG products were used throughout the entire job.
